Does anyone experience drop in volume when engaging sister oscillators? ( Detune ). I wonder if I am doing something wrong. Thanks
Nope, don’t believe you’re doing anything wrong, it behaves the same on my unit, and the demos I’ve heard seem to do similar. I have a hunch this is just how UDO’s implementation of Superwave works? Not ideal but at least you can crank the pre-filter gain to compensate.
Thanks. I’d be curious to see how it would behave with independent control for spread and volume slope for sister oscillators ( maybe with shift the knob would be able to control them independently in future firmwares ?)
I also noticed this and would love to see the gain compensated automatically. As it is, every time I want to use detune, I also need to adjust the VCA level to compensate, and it doesn’t always sound like an equivalent result.
To me this was the expected result due to phase cancellation, similar to what happens on Xaoc Odessa when you switch from single voice to 3/5. I wonder how similar the two FPGA architectures are under the hood.
I experienced the same behavior on my DMNO and thought it was a bug. But, the volume drop when detuning is addressed in the manual with an explanation and image.
Thats the official explanation. But its a digital synth, why not implement a volume compensation? Not hard to do and there is no situation where this behaviour would be wanted or beneficial.
