its more about the effects than the synth sound

just play a stabby sound, dark chord (Dmin for example) and run it through a tape echo, add phasing, spring verb and play around with echo feedback and subtle filter movements

don’t forget to explore the different wavetables and also mixing in noise and sub.

gentle modulations go a long way ..
