Hi - I’m thinking of getting a super Gemini and have a few pre purchase questions I wondered if you could help.
My aim would be to use it as two totally separate synths with Ableton as follows:
Keep a NI keyboard as my main midi keyboard, have the Gemini off to the side and play it just as a synth with midi ‘local’ tuned on.
When I want to switch over to using it with Ableton, have two midi tracks in ableton on separate channels (each with an audio track with monitor turned on to hear the audio through my soundcard) and then turn ‘local’ off to use it with Ableton via switching layers with the upper and lower layer button on the synth to get access to the two ‘separate synths’
Am I right in assuming that with local off, that when record arming one of the midi tracks in Ableton, for either the upper of lower layer, I can then input notes from either my main NI kybd and the Gemini - ie even though Local is off on the Gemini, it will still work (and be without a midi echo) because in Ableton I am arming the correct midi track (and for example if I then switched to a piano on a midi track in Ableton it would also play that and allow me to record notes etc) ?
This is standard behaviour that I use with many other synths, but I have seen a few reports of weird UDO behaviour with regards to a setup like this and Local On/Off, hence asking here for clarification
Thanks….
