Just got my DMNO today and love it as an instrument, but I’m a little surprised how slow data transfers are over USB when updating the firmware or updating patches.
Is there a fundamental reason why push data over USB to the DMNO is so darn slow? It seems slower than historical USB 1 speeds.
I was updating firmware recently, and it might feel to be bit slow, but the file size was tiny, so I was not bothered at all. It took maybe couple of minutes. Was it really really slow on yours?
A 3.2 Mb file taking a couple minutes to transfer is precisely the issue. That works out to something like 25 Kb/s. That’s slower than MIDI DIN transfer rates. When you’re USB data transfer is slower than a transfer protocol from the 1980s that seems a sign that some bit of underlying code needs a little optimization 
I understand. I thought doubt they will do anything about it anytime soon given it’s value against say finishing off sequencer etc.
It’s the same on the Super G, more poor design choices 
I have quite a few synths that use usb to be updated or patches transfer and a lot of them are quite slow, i wonder if the programmable memory are way slower than the usb bus and more if manufacturer use slow transfer for quality (avoid firmware update error etc etc…?)
Yeah, I suspect it’s write speed, not transfer speed.
