I think it would make more sense to make a little FX unit or something, with the screen, that can also integrate with the Supers via USB &or midi. Cutting a hole sounds a little drastic. I personally am surprised it matters that much to people!
When I first got my SG I made a bunch of recordings - taking the advice of an experienced person who said you should always record your first sessions on a new synth because the way that you use it will be totally fresh and without expectations. Recently I listened back to a few of those and it rekindled something for me - there are places you get to when you just play the instrument that you simply don’t find when you are focused on producing and recalling patches. I would definitely advise not forgetting to let the instrument lead you sometimes!
I’ve been in an overly analytic phase recently and was glad to have recorded those reminders for myself…
Anyway, I’ve been working on some plugdata (runs everywhere) patches that will do some of what you ask (writing the names to file will be coming in the next update). It is emphatically not an editor, but it might be a while until you see one of those - I know sunny has run into a bit of a block integrating the program he uses with the Gemini’s layered structure. Anyway, to me the design is perfect, and I think it’s a bit strange for people who love screens so much to go buying a synth without one, and then to complain about it.
