I have never calibrated the filter

But today I tried and after the procedure it sounds better.

How does it sound better?

I would like to know this as well.

With this being my first synthesizer, I often forget to calibrate the filter and I notice new tones and end up liking alot of them.

More finely, it’s difficult to describe, i don’t know if it’s for everyone, but on mine it’s not an imagination it’s real, i was immediately surprised.

Interesting. Maybe one of the UDO team could pop in and comment. Should we all be doing this?

The only difference I notice is the filter cutoff tracking the keyboard better when self oscillating, so can be used as a tuned VCO alongside DDS1, DDS2 and LFO1. Aside from that, I don’t notice any difference in timbre/fidelity.

There is no difference in timbre, please guys. I am not from UDO team but I have quite a few synths for a long time.
Calibration of the filter has two potential purposes. One is to track keyboard properly (if there is control for that), the other is to open when pot fully opens it and to close when control fully closes it - sometimes there is an offset (often in analogue filters due to the physical bump or temperature or humidity).
You will NOT hear a new timbre after calibrating the filter. It might be your mind just playing tricks on you, happens after fw updates, and any “fix” of the instrument.
