At around this price, it would be a no-brainer for me as well, even though money is tight at the minute.
Around Ā£2599 - thatās what I thought initiallyā¦
I guess Iām an eternal optimist. I canāt dislike it but at that price maybe canāt justify it. Suppose I should play oneā¦
Congrats to George and UDO team! It looks and sounds amazing and I am really looking forward to hearing more. I too am very optimistic it sounds like a lot of user feedback was put into this too, especially the UX around recalling what a patch does, etc. Really cool
It looks pretty great TBH. I think it has a lot of what people have been asking for.
I definitely donāt need or want another keyboard, but if a module comes out, Iād be tempted.
Curious if they will build it out as a 2nd family with an SG/8 and Module equivalents.
As a very happy Super Gemini owner I feel like this does enough things differently from the SG to get me pretty excited.
I hear the familiar UDO quality but it also comes across a bit more aggressive sounding than the super series. Canāt wait to get my hands on one!
I know the interplay of the two dominos/modules are key to the design of this synth, but I hope we see an āexpander moduleā or āDomino Monoā āDMNO 4 Desktopā, whatever it might be called. 4-voice single module, 2-voice duophonic in binaural mode. In a desktop module, at a lesser price. I know these things take time, and the team is focused on shipping this for early next year, but I hope thats on the roadmap. Much love to UDO. Some real innovation in an industry that sometimes feels stuck in the past.
Yeah, although the idea of this synth has already totally taken over my brain, it will take me some time to save up, and Iād love to see it in a desktop version. DMNO 4D. Enter the fourth dimension of sound. ![]()
Does anyone know if it is actually possible to add a similar screen to the Gemini as an outboard add on?
Yes, a desktop version, that would be grand.
Grand indeed. Two most probably!
George said the synth was more āangry" but, I didnāt hear much anger. Hopefully we get some more angrier sound demos! ![]()
perhaps George was angry at the synth, but the words came out differently ā¦
I really like the aesthetic⦠it still feels very UDO, but nicely distinct from the Super series instruments. Glad to see UDO taking some bold moves.
Fortunately for me, it still seems like quite a satisfyingly chunky instrument and I only have room for one, so my S8 is very safe.
If UDO maybe want to put the effects, filter and any improved sequencing in a sturdy desktop module that can somehow magically connect to the S8, Iād be very down for thatā¦
Do you know if this is at all possible?
Sounding like a menacing 80s Decepticon voice around the 3:00 mark! n I donāt even like dual peaking filter sounds that much typically.
I think people are gonna end up loving this even more than SG. I think perhaps the immediacy of the Super 8 is still more my thing even though I love VFD displays.
Itās mad how all out U.D.O. are going with build quality and durability. That much was clear to me receiving my S6 Desktop and also hearing George speak in a video interview during lockdowns. As I gather SMD components are not the best in that regard but with the hardware design generally it seems theyāre bucking the trend of downsizing.
Yeah, I sold my Super Gemini. I loved the sound but I kept getting lost or snow blind when loading existing patches and trying to figure out how they work⦠itās like I needed the entire signal path inside my head at all times. Not to mention the very opaque mod matrix. Beautiful instrument and sound, but day-to-day just not for me. I guess I just had a very romantic view that Iād be creating patches from scratch and throwing them away much like you had to do on older synthesizes lol ![]()
I hope we get a desktop version of DMNO, I donāt need another mono channel aftertouch keyboard taking up precious space. I much prefer playing my instruments with pad based controllers like Push, Move, Linnstrument, and keyboards like the Osmose.
Iām also happy to see a lot of extra utilities like audio interface, audio in, more effects, etc. It just makes it so much more pragmatic and practical. This will allow you to hook up your DMNO directly to your iPad which is gonna be awesome sending and receiving audio and midi! ![]()
