I completely agree with both sentiments here.
They don’t actually owe us anything really. And it still is an amazing sounding synth as is.
Though an attempt to keep everyone updated would go a long way in showing the level of care towards your customers. So yeah, I see both points.
Hi Acidizer , yes its all a bit of waffle and as with all forums should not be taken seriously but hopefully all inputs add value and interest to the forum and give people the feeling that their ‘issue’ is seen by others and maybe get an answer, , may even encourage other users to add their bit or make recommendations etc bit like you did mentioning the River synth, got my interest straight way as I have never seen one or heard any mention of it , no review in SOS ? so new one to me , anyway quick check on Youtube and it seems to be a decent well built Analog based synth made in France with a musical (to me) sound, probably going to be a rare (in UK) synth and judged by the sounds played on YouTube which can add something new to the analogue sound palette. Thanks for mentioning the synth, learnt something new today.
The River is basically unobtainable the small number made can sell for about double second hand versus what the price was new and that’s if you are lucky to find one.
My latest theory is this. UDO is a synthesizer. A synthesizer was used to make the iconic Halloween soundtrack. Gemini is due out on Halloween. Super 6 new firmware will release on Halloween.
Tell me I’m wrong George… you can’t.
…and if the firmware is not released on Halloween?
It would not surprise me if they were busy giving priority to the Gemini launch firmware and that the Super 6 firmware wont arrive till a little later. But this isnt based on insider info, and its still possible they might manage to do both in a similar timeframe I suppose. But I’m not going to shout if the Super 6 firmware takes a bit longer, as long as it doesnt slip by a rather large amount of time.
Officially abandoned.
Several people have recently reported being told by retailers that their first batch Geminis had slipped by a few weeks, so I’d be tempted to further moderate my Super 6 firmware timing expectations too.
I love my Super 6. No problems with it over the 3 years I’ve owned it and such great sounds. I ordered a Gemini as soon as it was announced. Andertons told me recently they expect the first batch to arrive mid-November.
The one I saw at Synthfest sounded gorgeous and has that lovely poly aftertouch keyboard too. I’m waiting for one in blue though
Andertons website says Gemini is available from the 17th Nov.
Do you think we’ll see a Super 6 update with this?
Given the absolute radio silence from UDO for any purposes other than marketing, I’m not convinced we will see an update. It’s been over a year since the last one.
Next update scheduled for Superbooth 2024
I like your optimism
Still think Christmas S6 update - but what year is anyones guess.
Maybe someone from UDO will take it upon themselves to actually communicate with the user base and let us know if an update to the S6 is still planned .
At the same time, for people thinking about purchasing the Gemini , am sure they would like to know its actual “in the Shops” release date plus judging by what I have read on other forums potential buyers seem to question if the patches created on the S6 will be transferable to the Gemini, maybe that question can be formally answered.
Are you considering replacing Super 6 with Super Gemini?
No I am not considering the Gemini as a potential purchase , My personal feeling is that the S6 is an easy to navigate , well built and designed synth with a few areas which could be improved on , the next update will hopefully sort out all the issues raised by forum members and add some new features from the Gemini if possible. , As you can see I am happy with my synth as is. The Gemini seems to be both complex and very expensive so don’t think my other half will be pleased if I spent the money a yet another ‘toy’.
When the Gemini arrives I can probably do some testing in regard to patch compatibility. That’s if controller positions don’t differ too much in how sound is generated. I’m interested myself in what changes are made.
Andertons site is saying 11/20 now.
That’s it!
5 minutes of their time to update those users that are asking the question.
No one is demanding an update & the S6 is still an amazing synth.
It’s just got a few small bugs/room for improvement that UDO themselves have publicly said they are on top of and an update will be released. Even if we were told there is no update coming. At least that would be an update in it’s self. Better than ZeRo.
All we are suggesting @udo-audio is an update on the update. 5 mins of your time.
they just need a few more days mate!
