I vaguely remember hearing George Hearn say in an interview somewhere something like ‘imagine the possibilities of what we can do in updates for the synth with the power of its digital processors’ or something like that, sorry it probably wasnt exactly that but, although its a brilliant lovely synth I dont feel like The digital possibilities i remember george talking about have really come to fruition. Im really thinking of selling my super 6 because I need to pay off debt, id be really sad to see it go, I really love it, but would there be any major changes in the vain of this badly remembered statement coming down the road that might make me think again about selling it, or is it going to be mostly as it is from now on?
Your post is vague… Think about what you’d like to see new or changed in a firmware update for the Super 6 and write it down… e.g., here. That will generate ideas for an update that can be implemented. I think the structure of the Super 6 is predetermined. The sound and operation are unique for my needs.
I think the FPGA oscillators could offer wave-folding, perhaps…
No.
Thats what he said, thats his obligation not mine.
If the processors are gonna be left as they are so be it but it seems like a waste just to produce analogue waveforms and a few static digtal shapes.
I’m not going to sell it anymore anyway, not for the moment, i really love it
(maybe linear fm instead of regular crossmod would be nice tho)
The phase mod is akin to linear FM have you explored that much?
Funnily enough, as much as people mention (and I have also sought out) the benefits of linear FM, I’ve been finding exponential FM is more valuable to me harmonically or rather enharmonically. Yes the pitch is affected but that’s the nature of the beast and I’m able to work around that.
The phase mod can get a bit unruly, I’ve often needed to re-tweak osc settings to get it sounding best.
no, how do you do phase mod? That would be great because thats what dx7 does right? When i said linear fm i was kind of implying that as well. Just something that doesnt affect the tuning
