The White noise on DDS 1 is very low

Hi all just go my SUPER GEMINI
The White noise on DDS 1 is very low in volume and not as loud as the White noise on DDS2.
COULD THIS BE A BUG ?
could some one let me know if there getting the same result on there SUPER GEMINI
before I contact support.

Thanks

Really dumb question here, but did you adjust the mixer knob for those oscillators? That bit me a few times.

Thanks for your help
I have had a Super 6 for over two years so I know how it work’s regarding the mix knob
but thank-you for the advice.

MY PROBLEM IS DDS1 IT’S VERY VERY LOW IN VOLUME and has no tone sounds way too thin “NOTHING like the White Noise on DDS2 ?
SOUNDS nothing like the White Noise on DDS1 ON MY SUPER 6.

Opened a support ticket now with UDO and sent a video of the problem

I can always exchange it’ as it’s only 8 days old but I want to check its not a bug and see if it’s a hardware problem.

Thanks

Just got this from UDO Support

Thanks a lot for your message and the video.

The different noise characteristics are normal and due to the difference between the oscillators. DDS 1 uses sampled waveforms while DDS 2 has an algorithmic core. Hence the differences in timbre. However, we may be able to increase the DDS 1 noise level a bit with a future update. In any case, I’ve added this to our list.

So that makes sense now
Thanks UDO FOR A VERY FAST RESPONSE

Just to add some deeper technical insight. The noise on both oscillators is in fact derived from the same source, despite the different oscillator architectures. DDS1 has brighter and smoother noise, and it appears quieter but in theory the peak amplitude is curiously the same. DDS2 slew limits the random wave, yielding a rougher, coarser noise more prevalent in the lower frequencies. It’s normal they sound different and outside of noise “colours” I’m interested for the future in ways of using the tune control to shape noise in useful ways

I would love to be able to make the noise more pink or brown!
