Use Manual Button LED to show current patch settings

I’m just copying this over from another thread to keep the idea alive. I’ve yet to see a discussion about UDO synths that doesn’t immediately go to lack of any kind of feedback about patches. Just last night I was working with a year old patch I’d made and was very frustrated not being able to find the settings.

It’s a 4 year old suggestion, and without doubt variations on this theme are the most commonly suggested / discussed. I’ve yet to see a better idea that would at least get us 80% of the way there, outside of a full blown editor, that feels like too far to dream right now. Even with an editor, this feature would be invaluable.

I sent this suggestion to UDO in October and they thought it sounded like a good idea and made a note of it, who knows if it will be implemented though…

On the DSI/Sequential OB-6 and P6, when you are on a saved patch, and you change a knob, if you rotate it back to the actual parameter setting of that patch, a little red dot shows up on the patch number display to signify you have matched that setting amount of that saved patch.

Obviously, the Super 6 has no display, but! Since the “Manual” LED is only ever fully lit when you are not tweaking a saved patch (hence Manual), it is essentially free for a similar task. For example, if I had been messing with the filter cutoff, but want to go back to the actual setting of the patch, as I move the cutoff slider, when I arrive at the setting of the saved patch, the Manual LED would flash for a second, or flash twice quickly, or something else of that nature.

Has anyone already sent an email to UDO Support about this topic? I’d be interested to know what UDO thinks of the idea. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen any response from UDO on this topic in the forum yet.

The person who originally had the idea said he did, and UDO like the idea.

Can’t hurt to msg them again, IMO it’s kind of an important feature for a lot of people.

maybe there is no technician in the team.

A while back I fleshed out a thorough set of UI ideas that gave a way to have visual feedback not only for parameters but also for modulation routings. I posted them on this forum and sent them via email. Don’t know if they were ever evaluated.

Yeah, I’m just desperately trying to keep the topic alive, I’m not married to any specific solution.

What I’d say is, “It is as it is”. Super 6 was marketed as a performance synth. Anyone wanting a screen displaying every setting should get a Sequential or whatever. Somebody on here has a computer editor that works, BUT I’ve never seen proof it works. Someone could buy the software and make a video to show it updating a Super 6 patch and displaying all the settings. Personally I won’t be doing that, and like the synth the way UDO made it.

That’s not what I’m asking for.

Thing is, I have no idea how the software inside Super 6 is set up. It may be impossible to make the Panel light indicate saved setting values. I have no idea, but people have been saying stuff since 2019 or 20, when I got my Super 6. Apparently some things, such as how controls are scaled is a conscious manufacturer choice, I have read somewhere. Am I the only one 100% happy with my Super 6 from day 1, and still am? Honestly, it knocks the socks off everything I own or have auditioned in shops.
