Mono synth. Drum machine. Sampler.
But I would really like an oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer that works well with the Gemini.

+1 to this, thereās a real scarcity of aesthetically pleasing controllers (scarcity is probably underexaggerating if anything, if you want something with that has a good keybed, nice materials and looks the partā¦ thereās nothing. Arturia keylab mk2 maybe closest but even that is loaded up with pads, sliders, dials etc.)
After a few days with the Super 8, Iād like to revisit this thread.
Definitely would love to see a 5(+)-octave controller from UDO with this keybed. Itās simply a joy to play. Would be good if it had the pitch stick and traditional mod and pitch wheels (a la Roland Jupiter X) so it can cater for different playing styles.
Would also love to see a pared-down, strict WYSIWYG, one-knob/slider-per-function UDO synth in the same format as the Super 8, maybe even with analogue VCOs with more ātraditionalā architecture, maybe adding a second lowpass/multi-mode filter. The spacious panel is so inviting and immersive, the build quality is top and it looks absolutely beautiful. And in case it werenāt obvious, please use this same keybed.
I really love the waveforms that come in cuckoos preset pack for s6. Theyre not HQ exactly tho as they intentionally contain aliasing sounds but I think that sounds beautiful. What Iād really love is a way to easily create our own waveforms with out the hassle their currently is.
Totally. I would love to take a waveform from a complex oscillator and make it polyphonic
Do you know this site?
http://scw.sheetsofsound.com/editor.html
It does have the required 4096 sample size and waves can be loaded. You will still need audacity to save in the proper format. I would gladly pay for a software tool that does it all in one step, but then UDO has to be a software company. Maybe someone here will create a tool for us.
Iāve used this site to make a couple of waveforms but I havenāt gotten around to loading them up yet and testing them out.
Yes!
Written with the understanding that UDO is small, and making stellar products, so I get it:
Having a design thatās meant to be āwhat you see is what you getā, only it isnāt, feels like the biggest flaw in the system.
Being new to the world of poly-synths, hitting a patch and not having a clue what itās doing isnāt satisfying, I want to learn how to make my own sounds, and see factory patches as an important gateway to doing that.
Either an app, web app, or a stand alone display as other users mentioned. But for me, and it seems like a lot of others. A system like this is really needed to complete the existing product range, and Iād be a bit bummed out to see effort going into other products before something that helps solve this problem.
Ugly and feel cheap, this is a brilliant idea.
Voice Cards for the Super synthesizers!
After installing the ST49 retrofit poly AT keyboard for S6 and seeing the six voice cards nicely accessible on the main board of the synth, I was reminded of one other hybrid polysynth with voice cards for different analog components such as filters (Mutable Instruments Ambika).
It made me think how cool it would be to have different kinds of filters implemented in this voice card architecture. Just swapping the voice cards could give a lot of further tweakability to these beautiful synthesizers.
While I love the SSI filter on the S6, it has quite heavy cutoff attenuation. Personally Iām would love to see an OTA based 2-pole (12dB/oct) state variable filter design in this particular synthesizer (Super 6). The best sounds I create with this have this open airiness with some nice noisy artifacts sprinkled on top and a 12dB/oct filter would be useful with these.
In addition, these voice cards could open up a lot more experimental possibilities, for instance some heavily distorting EDP Wasp -eque voice card would be amazing with some of the hi-fi clean sounds.
Sounds like a good idea for a new product. It would be hard to retroactively implement this feature but on a new product? Reminds me of Befacoās FX Boy. They made a eurorack module that mounts Game Boy cartridges. Each cartridge contains a programmed effect. Swap em out for distortion, phaser, delay, etc. I never picked it up because itās too lo-fi for me, but swappable analog filter cards is a cool idea. Just as long as I donāt have to blow on the cartridge to get it to work. There are a bunch of esoteric designs that could be in a polysynth. Arp 2500, 1047, 303, early moog ladder filter, Sallen-Key, CS-80 filter, a notch filter, Hordjik designs, Serge VCFQ, Twin Peaks(dual bandpass) Polivoks, hey letās get a vactrol-based filter in a poly!
Edit- I will add the Super 8 filter is outstanding
Another vote for a drum machine here
Itād be (very) niche but Iād love to see a new take on the vintage multi instrument synths a la the ARP Quadra or Korg Tridentā¦ Simple mono synth and a classic UDO style poly synth plus an FPGA top octave generator based string machine section with dedicated ensemble. Poly AT keybed (obviously!) with the ability to bring in the string/poly sections overlaid via ATā¦ add some global or send FX and voila! Imagine binaural strings and poly sections and all the interactions between them all with a sequenced mono line running behind. All wrapped up in a beautiful UDO keyboard
Bumping this for 2025!
Happy New Year Udo friends
A multi-lane midi sequencer would be cool. There are a lot of super featured and expensive sequencers out there. But something more stripped back would be a sweet spot.
Basically like the electron sequencer, without the sound generation. Would love to sequence the Super 6 desktop with it something like that.
The pattern UDO has created of entering modulation depth on their synths would work really nicely on a sequencer for things like, trig probability etc.
+1000
Please do it.
And do it now
I saw something about UDO at Buchla and friends. A eurorack module would be nice! Maybe they cooked up an fpga-based module? Still want the drum machine/sampler.
An advanced sequencer like the oxi, cirklon, polyend stuff with a nice display that can be linked up with any current UDO product and show patch names, values and other information about the synths.
I would rather fancy a very sturdy and nice (UDO design ) granular synth with well thought out controls. Think 1010Music Lemondrop, but with a great UI to interact with.
But more important, continue to debug and update the firmwares
My daughter has a little wooden box with switches and lights on it (teaches tactile skills and problem solving). I would like a small, portable UDO device that doesnāt do anything in particular but has a selection of knobs, sliders and switches on it that make lights blinkā¦I just find it so soothing to move the controls around on the Super 6; it would be nice to have that on a long plane ride or to move one on to a meditative state.
