I can’t reliably upload some patches to my Super 6 but can consistently upload others.
For example, I never have an issue with the factory patches but some third party patches won’t always take. It manifests as being unable to select some of the patches, eg the patch buttons aren’t illuminated and won’t select. There’s no mechanical problem with the switches as if I change bank they work fine.
I’ve most recently noticed it with the ST49 sound pack for the poly AT retrofit. Bank A2 is fine but bank A1 is inconsistent. Typically it’s always patch 3 and 8 that fail. I’m using firmware 1.4
I’m Mac based and some people have reported flakiness when using MacOS compared to Windows but I’m aware of the various issues - eg needing to empty the bin - but that wouldn’t explain why some patches are fine. Same for the possibility of a bad USB cable. I’ve tried several.
I’m happy to conclude it may well be cable and operating system issues, and just move on, but I want to be sure this isn’t symptomatic of a potential hardware issue, specifically the memory.
Has the Super 6 a diagnostic mode? Can I check the memory in some way?
Suspect that UDO fully check that patches are all OK before putting them on the site for us to download however, but the big question is 'do UDO then recheck that the patches will load correctly into the S6 when downloaded from the site using a MAC ? ’
They did screw up one upload and had to redo it. I think it was the Mega Pack.
The main Mac issue is running out of space on the drive because the recycle bin hasn’t been emptied.
Can you transfer patches by SysEx on S6? I’m not sure you can. Maybe I could try putting the failing patches in a different slot. That would be some helpful diagnostics. I will try it.
Before releasing the pack we tested the compatibility of the patches at firmware v1.4, both with and without the ST49 fitted. We also performed the install using the Macintosh and PC methods - no issues were found.
We would very much like to get to the bottom of the issue you’ve encountered, please feel free to reach out by email to support@udo-audio.com where Mike or myself will be on hand to help.
