Hi,
I followed all instructions to upload 1.6 firmware to my S6. Then I ran into a big issue that my S6 could not be booted up ‘normally’. I must say that after every reboot something different seemed to happen. Most of the times the machine seemed like ‘dead’ (after the initial Led flourish), not a single Led was lid, sometimes Shift was blinking with the Leds 2,4 and 5 and sometimes it seemed to load OK, entering patch mode but then there was no sound audible.
I had still a 0.27 firmware version around, so I could reinstall that and at least the S6 is now working again. Anyone ran into similar issues and how to solve them?
Did you also install the init patch? Not sure if it might be relevant, just that the upgrade instructions don’t mention it. I tend to do it anyway. Mine was odd for the first boot after the upgrade and there still seemed something peculiar about MIDI channel selection, but so far it seems OK.
Yes, I installed the two files that come with the 1.6 update, made sure to delete the previous files from the bin etc… At some point I thought that there might be a compatibility issues between patches from the 0.27 era and those from the 1.6 era because all the patches are there if I may believe my SUPER 6 drive
Thanks for the global reset tip. I will try it out when I feel like trying to install 1.6 again
I didn’t know about the downgrade limitation, but going from 1.6 > 0.27 I have not yet encountered anything out of the ordinary, but who knows I will run into some issue later on.
0.27 is a fairly old firmware from late 2021. There’s been 0.30 (start of 2022) and 0.52 (mid 2022). You should probably check with UDO support if there are any known issues upgrading from older firmwares.
Yes, maybe it might be a safer approach to do the firmware updates consecutively and chronologically, so 0.2.7 to 0.3.1 to 0.5.3 to 1.0.0 etc… My super6 got completely bricked when trying to go from 0.53 to 1.0 and one of the first questions they asked me was what firmware i did the upgrade from.
