Hi gang,
Im trying to FM the Super 6 filter with DDS2, with a wave shape other than triangle. Is this possible?
Using the DDS2 to VCF slider, or setting up the same routing using the Mod Matrix, it appears DDS2 always reverts to a triangle shape, unless using the noise shape (which is also the case with the Cross-Mod slider)
Is there a way to get FM with other wave shapes?
(trying to recreate some Prophet style polymod sounds)
Thanks in advance!
I think we did once ask for this and there was some discussion about possibly having a ‘user config’ type text file for that and other choices. You never know, George might still do it.
Wow, reverts to triangle? Never realized this, worth checking.
I think it’s generally regarded as ‘more musical’ as an FM source. Well, after sine.
I still need to try on Super6, but on Gemini DDS2 definitely keeps its selected waveform when modulating the filter via DDS 2 slider in VCF section. Both in LFO and normal mode - very audible.
Indeed on Super6 can’t here any difference between sine/saw/square/triangle in the above scenario, of course noise works, and presumably Pulse too.
In LFO mode still works as expected though.

Thanks for the replies. It would be great if DDS2 kept its selected shape when modulating the filter as you can get very interesting and musical results with harmonically rich waveforms. The fact that the Gemini works this way would suggest that it might be possible for the Super 6.
