Definitely on board for this. @udo-audio any updates on the viability of this idea?
We’re working on it!
I’d definitely get this.
Hmm, it would be nice to have at least one full size controller with poly in my system. I’m still not sure why it hasn’t been standard for the last 40 years. The little mini keys of my Hydrasynth Explorer are OK, but full size poly, connected directly to the Super 6 would be awesome. It was easy to replace the keybed of my Sequential Pro One with a modern version, no doubt this would be equally straightforward.
Curious what the possibilities are. And the different options.
I would love to see Poly AT
We’ve got something for you guys. Announcement at Superbooth!
Holy shit! You guys are legends!
Any indication of how many beer tokens I should put aside to afford this exciting announcement?
Someone on GS suggested that UDO could release a pinout diagram of the og S6 keybed, so people can use it for DIY projects, instead of throwing it in the trash.
Seems like a really good idea, so i’m putting that suggestion out here?
I think it’s just a drop in Fatar keybed so the pin out could also come from Fatar, if it’s not already somewhere in the public domain
I assume the Supertouch keybed will overhang the case as per the original? Just wondering what the potential for repair will be in the case of mishap, given that this a limited production run.
Follow-up question. Although Poly-AT and a more weighted action does appeal to me, before ordering I’d want to be confident that the general playing feel is just as nicely balanced and consistent as the existing keybed. The best test of this is whether it’s just as easy to depress the black keys right at the back as it is at the front, which can be a challenge to get right for shorter length actions (anyone who has tried to play an Emaj7 chord on a KingKorg will know what I mean).
The keybed in the Gemini is made by Fatar so presumably this is too.
Fatar will have a repair and servicing agreement with UDO.
Thanks - I agree that’s all likely to be the case, although my guess is the keyboard action must be different to the Gemini’s given the reduced depth available on the Super 6. This difference might also explain why the control surface of the new Super 8 is comparatively set further back from the keyboard.
Question to UDO about tax of the poly aftertouch kit: I found that you charge about 400 Euro including tax, at least that is what your shop tells me (I selected Germany but if I select e.g. Italy, the total price including tax remains the same).
Does this mean, country specific tax already is included and I have “only” to pay some custom fees or do I have to add country specific tax plus custom fees?
Ugh, that’d drive me nuts.
Off-topic: I’ve noticed the Super 6 pop up a lot amongst jazz and ‘jazz-adjacent’ keyboard players.
@Vanlesson we have gone and reviewed this. For some reason EU countries were saying “including tax” which is rather vague and not correct. We are not charging VAT for export, only UK customers will be charged VAT. Duty should be nil in all EU shipments however VAT may be payable to the courier in the EU and varies from country to country. Germany is 19% I believe for example. If in doubt we can estimate this for you if you email us.
@dcjams yes me too but it seems the wonky key has become kind of a trademark for him!
